Silk Creme Foundation by Laura Mercier

Today it's a review of a cult beauty product! Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Foundation ($43 at Sephora) is described as a medium to full coverage foundation that gives you a glowy look! Here are my thoughts after having almost finished the whole tube!

Aujourd'hui est une revue d'un produit très connu dans les blogs de beauté! Le fond de teint "Crème de soie" de Laura Mercier (43€ chez Senteur d'Ailleurs) est décrit comme donnant une couvrance de moyenne à élevée et créeant un effet bonne mine! Voici mes impressions du produit après avoir presque fini le produit!

Laura Mercier's Silk Creme foundation in the shade Rose Ivory

The positive:

- It has buildable coverage and creates a flawless skin appearance.

- It is creamy, so not so difficult to blend.

- It does not have SPF so perfect for nights out when you will be taking pictures of yourself!

- If you apply a bit of powder to set it, it can last the whole day looking amazing and does not make my skin shiny.

The negative:

- It is a bit thick for my liking so a bit more work to blend than the light foundations.

- The second lightest shade, rose ivory, is too pink and dark for me so I will probably try the Porcelain one.

- It does not have a perfume smell. I guess this could be positive for some of you but for me it's always nice to apply a foundation that has a nice scent.

- It can emphasize dry areas if you don't have a good moisturizer.

Overall:

I love this foundation for nights out or days where I need my make-up to last a long time (more than 12hs). The negative aspects of this product I have managed to control and therefore enjoy the foundation. If you are looking for a high coverage foundation this is it! I strogly recommend you give this a try whatever your skin type is!

Le positif:

- C'est une couvrance qui peut augmenter avec les couches et donner un effet zéro défaut à votre peau.

- Il est crémeux, donc pas très difficile à étaler.

- Il n'a pas de SPF donc parfait pour les nuits où vous sortez et vous allez prendre beaucoup de photos.

- Si vous appliquez un peu de poudre pour le fixer, il peut tenir toute la journée sans que la peau brille.

Le négatif:

- C'est un fond de teint un peu épais et moi je préfère les textures plus liquides.

- La deuxième couleur la plus claire reste trop foncée pour moi donc je vais devoir acheter Porcelain et voir si ça convient à ma couleur de peau.

- Il n'a pas de parfum et moi je préfère les fond de teint qui ont une belle odeur. 

Conclusion:

J'adore ce fond de teint pour les soirées ou les longues journées (plus de 12h avec fond de teint). Les aspects négatifs je peux maintenant les contrôler et donc arrive à apprécier encore plus le produit. Si vous cherchez un fond de teint qui ait une bonne couvrance celui-là est parfait! Je trouve que ce serait idéal pour tout type de peau!

Lasting Performance Foundation by Max Factor

The Lasting Performance Foundation by Max Factor (9,99 £ at Boots.co.uk) is the perfect mixer for any foundation! I had to write about this precious discovery that I made a dew months ago and that has completely changed my face make-up!

Le fond de teint "Lasting Performance" de Max Factor (10€ chez Di) est la combinaison parfaite pour n'importe quel fond de teint! Je devais vous présenter cette merveilleuse découverte que j'ai faite il y a quelques mois et qui a complètement changé mon visage!

The product:

This foundation is described by Max Factor as the perfect base, with great staying power, transfer free and good coverage. I haven't checked the transfer-free claim but I can confirm that it did last on my skin the whole day and that it is has medium to high coverage! This is very impressive for a drugstore brand! Let me tell you now why this foundation is special....

Le produit:

Ce fond de teint est décrit par la marque comme une base idéale pour celles qui cherchent des produits qui durent toute la journée, qui ne créent pas de tâches sur les vêtements et qui ont une bonne couvrance. Je n'ai pas testé s'il ne se transférez pas aux vêtements mais je peux vous dire qu'il tient toute la journée et a une couvrance qui va de moyenne à élevée! Regardons maintenant pourquoi ce fond de teint est spécial....

This foundation is ideal for anyone who already possesses a BB cream, a CC cream or a dewy foundation and is looking to make it last longer, be more matte or have more coverage. 

Less shine:

As I hope you can tell from the picture below, this foundation is completely matte. I have found that some BB creams tend to make me look oily by the end of the day and when I have mixed it with this foundation, it happens a lot less and is more easy to control.

Longer lasting:

I had always found that BB and CC creams tend to disappear by the end of the day, where I can't almost see any coverage left. However, when adding this foundation to the mix, I have found that this resolved the issue efficiently...

Ce fond de teint est idéale pour celles qui ont déjà une crème BB, CC ou un fond de teint très léger et qui cherchent à le faire durer plus longtemps, le rendre plus mat ou augmenter la couvrance.

Moins de brillance:

Comme j'espère que vous avez pu le remarquer sur la photo ci-dessous, ce fond de teint est complètement mat. J'avais vu que mes crèmes BB ou CC n'aident pas à me maintenir mat pendant toute la journée alors qu'en les mélangeant avec ce produit, je vois moins la brillance.

Plus de temps sur le visage:

J'avais aussi vu que les crèmes CC ou BB ont tendance à dispaître de mon visage vers la fin de la journée. Quand je mélange avec ceci, je vois que mes bases de teint tiennent beaucoup plus longtemps...

Higher coverage:

I have also found that sometimes lighter foundations, that are a bit more dewy, tend to not conceal my blemishes/imperfections. However, since I have combination skin, I have found that higher coverage foundations accentuated my dry patches. My new solution is that when I mix the dewy foundation with this one, the coverage is perfect (no accentuated dry zones and still good coverage).

A better color match:

This solution is good for anybody who feels that their foundations are too pink or too yellow for their skin. I have found that this shade is so neutral that I can regulate the color to make it match perfectly any foundation I already have. 

My advice:

If you are looking to solve any of the problems mentioned, this product could be the perfect solution. You can also look into your foundations to see if you already have a neutral shade like this one, that is also matte and with good coverage, and try mixing your dewy ones with that one! I hope you found this helpful and motivated you to try mixing your foundations to find the perfect combination, if you haven't found one foundation that is perfect for you!

Plus de couvrance:

J'avais aussi tendance à voir que, dès que j'avais un problème de peau (plus de boutons/imperfections que d'habitude), avoir moins de couvrance n'était pas l'ideal. Alors j'ai décidé de les mélanger et ainsi avoir une couvrance moyenne, qui masque tout type de rougeur. Aussi, les fonds de teint avec plus de couvrance ont tendance à souligner toutes les parties de mon visage qui sont sèches alors que ce mélange ne donne jamais ce type de résultat.

Un meilleur match au niveau de la couleur:

J'avais souvent remarqué que quand je voulais tester un nouveau fond de teint, il était trop jaune ou rose pour la couleur naturelle de mon visage. Comme celui de Max Factor est neutre, il est parfait pour aider à fondre le nouveau fond de teint avec la couleur de ma peau.

Mon conseil:

Si vous êtes à la recherche d'un produit qui pourrait résoudre un des problèmes cités ici, ce fond de teint pourrait être la solution pour vous. Vous pouvez aussi regarder si, dans vos fonds de teint, vous n'avez pas une base qui soit mat, avec une bonne couvrance et  neutre. Essayez de les mélanger pour vois si ceci marche pour vous. J'espère que ce post vous encouregera à mélanger vos bases de teint pour trouver la combinaison idéale, ceci si vous n'avez pas encore eu la chance d'avoir un qui est parfait pour vos besoins.

The BB Cream by Bourjois

The Bourjois BB Cream (11,99£ in Selfridges), the product that deserves a true mention in the beauty blogs! It aims to  have 8 benefits for your skin in just one product! Most of them are common benefits, like it hydrates the skin, minimizes imperfections, lasts for up to 16 hours, etc. One thing that is important for a drugstore BB cream is that it has SPF 20!

La BB crème de Bourjois (15,95€ chez Bourjois ou Di) est un produit qui mérite être plus mentionné dans les blogs de beauté! Elle est censée apporter 8 bénéfices en total pour votre peau dans un seul produit! La plupart des bénéfices sont les plus connus, comme le fait qu'il hydrate la peau, camoufle les imperfections, ca tient jusqu'à 16 heures, etc. Mais une chose qui est assez intéressante pour une BB cream de bon marché est qu'elle contient une protection solaire de 20!

The positive:

- It is very hydrating, so it works well to conceal dark circles around the eyes!
- It is light weight
- It has a nice texture, like a mousse, so easy to spread.
- It is easy to apply with fingers.
- It has a staying power of 8 hs without moving too much.
- It adds a lot of hydration and does not emphasize the dry patches.
- It has light to medium coverage.

The Negative:

- The consistency can be too greasy for oily to combination skin.
- It made me a bit shiny after applying it (I have combination skin).
- It only comes in four shades.

Le positif:

- Elle hydrate bien la peau donc elle peut aussi être appliquée autour de l'oeil comme anti-cernes.

- Elle a une texture très légère, un peu comme une mousse, donc elle fond facilement au contact de la peau.

- C'est facile à appliquer à l'aide des doigts.

- La crème peut rester assez bien sur la peau pendant 8 hs, sans trop disparaître.

- Elle ajoute pas mal d'hydratation et efface les parties du visage qui sont un peu sèches.

- Il a une couvrance qui va de légère à moyenne.

Le Négatif:

- La consistence est trop grasse pour les peaux mixtes-grasses.

- Après l'avoir appliquée, j'avais déjà la peau avec un aspect gras (j'ai une peau mixte).

- Elle ne vient qu'en 4 couleurs différentes!

As I hope you can see from the pictures above, the BB cream melted into the skin perfectly, you cannot see the edges and it made my hand wrinkles disappear a bit!

My Advice:

I think this BB cream is perfect for normal to dry skin! For those who have oily skin, I have found that this is a great concealer for the eye area! It is so much cheaper than the cult products like the Bobbi Brown Concealer and I think it works great. You also get a lot of product for the price! If you want to take a look, here is a link.

Comme j'espère que vous avez pu remarquer sur les photos ci-dessous, cette crème a fondu sur ma main parfaitement, sans laisser aucune trace et a fait disparaître une partie de mes rides!

Mon conseil:

Je trouve que cette BB crème est idéale pour celles qui ont une peau normale à sèche! Pour celles qui ont la peau plus grasse comme moi, j'ai trouvé que cette crème marchait très bien comme un anti-cernes! Il est beaucoup plus économique que les anti-cernes les plus connus comme celui de Bobbi Brown. Pour plus que la moitié du prix, vous avez plus de produit et, selon moi aussi efficace.
